Who am I and why did I set up Leighton Buzzard Local?
Hello! I'm Laura, and I created Leighton Buzzard Local.
I've lived in Leighton Buzzard for over 10 years now and I want to make sure that everyone can find things in our community. Whether you want to find a great local business, a cool local event or are interested in support a local community group or charity - Leighton Buzzard Local is the place to find out!
I set up LBL (as I affectionately call it) not long after I moved to Leighton Buzzard. At the time I was making handmade fudge and had been attending markets as well as wholesaling to local cafes. Whilst the fudge business didn't stand the test of time, Leighton Buzzard Local Food (my original name for the account) became Leighton Buzzard Local and now I have a podcast and over 3.5k followers on Instagram.
I created and continue to develop Leighton Buzzard Local because I think our town has so much to offer, and I want to make sure that people know about it, and can access it. We have a wonderful community in Leighton Buzzard, one that wants to support others locally when they can, so if my account can help someone find what they're looking for and feel that they have a place here then that's only going to create a ripple effect that makes Leighton Buzzard even better!
For 2025 I want to take this account even further and give it a place to live outside of Instagram, so that I can reach even more people. My podcast was just the first step towards doing that and I have more ideas on how I can make it happen.
