Leighton Buzzard Local - As Seen on BBC Three Counties Radio!

February 10, 20251 min read

Last week I was invited to be part of the outside broadcast from Leighton Buzzard for BBC Three Counties Radio.

The team at the Andy Collins breakfast show got in touch with me ahead of the show to ask if I would come along and be interviewed about all things LB after hearing my Leighton Buzzard Local podcast.

I got there at 6am and was interviewed throughout the morning, covering topics like nightlife in Leighton Buzzard, our green spaces (a section where I was interviewed alongside the Mayor) and what there is to do for children locally.

The whole morning was wonderful. The team, including the production team, were super friendly and kind to me. They gave me headphones so that I could listen to what was going on, and what everyone was saying behind the scenes as well as what you could hear on the radio itself.

As well as interviewing Leighton Fun Runners, Jade from Spectrum Community Arts, the Mayor, the Police and Crime Commissioner and other locals, they did pre-recorded segments where they have visited Room No 9, our local flight simulator, Leighton Buzzard Railway and Ollie Vees.

It was hosted at the Winery and Jonny and his team kept the coffee coming, as well as doing a wine tasting live on air!

All in all it was not just a great fun experience, it really did show off everything that LB has to offer and why our town is such a great place to live.

To listen to the whole show in full, you can listen back on BBC Sounds here.
